Citizen shoots dead suspected robber on Dalmia Road

A citizen shot dead an alleged mugger who along with his accomplice was fleeing after looting two brothers on Dalmia Road in Karachi on Thursday.

One of the brothers shot at a robber while the other robber managed to escape the scene, according to the Sharea Faisal police. The suspected robbers raiding a motorbike were fleeing the scene after robbing Kaleemullah and Mazang who were also on a motorcycle, the police said.

The incident took place near the Central Government Society, the police added. Mazang opened fire from his licensed pistol, killing one of the muggers, the police said. As the police were called in, a team attended the scene and moved the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy.

The police said a pistol was found in the possession of the deceased robber whose identity was yet to be ascertained. The police said they were recording the statements of the complainant and his brother.

Man injured

A 54-year-old was shot and injured for resisting a mugging bid in Orangi Town locality. Police said the man was identified as Mazhar Saleem, son of Yaqoob.

Two robbers riding a motorcycle were trying to loot cash and cell phone from Mazhar when he resisted their mugging bid. A robber shot in his leg and fled the scene, police said, adding that the injured man was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.

A case has been registered against the unidentified robbers. A day earlier, a man lost his life for trying to run away from muggers. According to the Pakistan Bazaar police, 25-year-old Daud, son of Mushtaq, was shot dead by two robbers during their mugging bid in Gulshan-e-Bihar, Christian Colony in Orangi Town.

According to SHO Iqbal Tunio, the victim was standing outside his residence when the two muggers riding a motorcycle attempted to loot him. When the man tried to run away from the muggers, they opened fire at him.
