Phony rhetoric
January 27, 2020
This letter refers to the news report ‘China rejects US interference in CPEC, ties with Pakistan’ (Jan23, 2020). The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has rightly rejected the senior US Diplomat Alice Wells’ negative rhetoric against CPEC, terming it a pack of lies. Our relations with China are stable and time-tested, whereas our involvement with the US saw many ups and downs, with more downs than ups.
The present US tilt towards us is because it needs our help in connection with Afghanistan. After all, not long ago Trump was calling us cheats and liars and on top of blocking aid, he has even discontinued Coalition Support Fund payments which are merely a reimbursement of expenses incurred by us.
