DIR: A fire in Bibyawar Bazaar in Upper Dir district gutted two shops and caused millions of rupees loss to the shopkeepers. It could not be known how the fire started. Rescue and local sources said that the incident happened at around 3:45am on Friday. A civil defence volunteer said that they were informed at 4am that shops had caught fire there in Bibyawar Bazaar. He added that he along with other volunteers rushed to the site and took part in rescue operation. He said the fire-brigade vehicles of the Tehsil Municipal Administration also reached the site after being informed about the fire. The fire was extinguished after hectic efforts by the fire-fighters and local volunteers. The shopkeepers claimed that they had suffered more than Rs10 million loss and appealed to the provincial government and deputy commissioner Upper Dir to compensate them.
