Cop hurt in encounter with drug peddlers
A policeman was wounded during an exchange of fire with the suspected criminals in District East on Friday. According to police, the encounter took place when policemen conducted a raid on a den of drug peddlers in Baloch Para in Jamshed Quarters. The drug peddlers opened fire at the cops in order to avoid being arrested, wounding policeman Bilal.
The police arrested a suspect, Ameer, and registered a case against him. The other suspects managed to escape from the scene.
The injured cop was taken to hospital where doctors termed his condition out of danger. Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam took a notice of the incident and sought a report from the District East police of Karachi, and ordered arresting the suspects at the earliest.
