CM Mahmood Khan vows tough legislationto curb child abuse cases

NOWSHERA: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday vowed tough legislation by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to curb the child sexual abuse cases.

He expressed the resolve as he talked to the media after meeting the family members of an eight years old girl (HN) in Ziarat Kaka Sahib area of the Nowshera district who was murdered after being subjected to sexual abuse recently.

The chief minister was accompanied by his adviser on merged areas, Ajmal Wazir, Inspector General of Police Sanaullah Abbasi and other officials including Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, Deputy Inspector General, Mardan Range, Sher Akbar Khan and Nowshera District Police Officer Kashif

Zulfiqar. Mahmood Khan said the KP government would ensure legislation within a month to discourage child abuse cases like the one which happened here which, he said, was highly shocking and a disgrace to humankind.

The chief minister directed the Nowshera district police to conduct an effective investigation into the killing and sexual abuse case of the girl child at Ziarat Kaka Sahib so that culprits were brought to justice and awarded an exemplary punishment. He said the provincial government would monitor the progress in the case.

Earlier, Mahmood Khan met the aggrieved members of the family and offered them condolence, saying he stood by them in this trying time.

The chief minister handed a Rs 1 million cheque to the grieving family. He assured the father of the murdered child and other relatives that the provincial government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring punishment to the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

Talking on the occasion, the father of the murdered girl broke down as he appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Mahmood Khan to help him get justice as he had been left devastated by the horrific incident.
