In the city of Ghotki, Sindh, dacoits have come out on streets agitating against police officers for demanding ‘bhatta’ (extortion) of one lac rupees per month without realizing that the dacoit business is on the decline. Failing to comply with police officers threats, the dacoits have to face extrajudicial killing.
This is a serious issue considering the government's policy to boost the economy by encouraging businesses. Police must be stopped from using these illegal measures and instead direct FBR to bring these dacoits into the tax net to increase the country’s revenues.
