LAHORE
PML-Q senior leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has demanded the holding of Local Government elections in Punjab on the same day.
Talking to media after jointly chairing a meeting of party members with President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein, senior leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that nobody trusted the sitting Election Commission, all parties' unanimous demand was that all the four members should resign since they would not let transparent elections be held as long as they were there. He said that for expressing solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan and paying homage to martyrs, September 6 would be observed quite enthusiastically.
Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that party's reorganisation had been started. In this connection, first Kisan Convention will be held on September 16 in Gujranwala and second convention will be held in Kasur and province-wise conventions will be held under the chairmanship of Ch Shujat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain Sayed. He further said the N-League had destroyed the Local Governments in eight years as well as the entire system. He said the PML-Q would actively participate in the Local Government elections and the District Presidents would issue the tickets. In this connection, a section has also been set up at the Muslim League House and other parties have contacted us for taking part in the Local Government elections. Ch Pervaiz Elahi said the only solution to electricity and water crisis was the construction of Kalabagh dam as development of farmers was also linked with this dam.
In reply to a question, he said former President Asif Ali Zardari had demanded that the blood of 14 martyrs of Model Town tragedy be accounted for and action be taken against Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah. Likewise, why no action is also taken on the video of Rana Mashood and statement of Ishaq Dar on money laundering. He said there had been loss of Rs 80 billion in Nandipur Power project, miserable conditions prevailed in the hospitals.
