Irked by the criticism over his interference in political matters, Bipin Rawat, India’s ex-chief of army staff, now chief of defence staff (CDS), has come up with some dubious theories. According to Rawat most of the eye injuries in Kashmir are caused by those pelting stones as they bend to the ground to pick up stones and because pellet guns are fired at the legs they get hit in the eyes.
In addition, the Indian opposition has taken great exception to his comments on ‘radicalization’ among Kashmiri youth. In response to Rawat’s remarks opposition MP Asaduddin Owaisi asked, “Who will deradicalise lynchers and their political masters?”
