LAHORE: Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday urged the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) to take up the issue of establishing Sargodha Dry Port with relevant authorities.
An SCCI delegation of Business Shaheen Group members visited the FPCCI Regional Office Lahore, where they congratulated the new FPCCI President Mian Anjum Nisar on winning the recent election.
They urged the new president to take up the establishment of Sargodha Dry Port, which was necessary to boost kinnow exports. Sargodha was the hub of citrus production with a $200 million share in the national exchequer, they said. They also asked the FPCCI to coordinate better with the Sargodha chamber and help resolve its issues with the Federal Board of Revenue. Sargodha chamber was one of the older chambers in Punjab, but still does not have a permanent building, the delegates lamented, and asked FPCCI to hold negotiations with Punjab government and the Export Development Fund (EDF) of the Ministry of Commerce to provide due funds.
