Maladministration
This refers to the article ‘Illegal deals done at airports, nobody to stop them: Justice Gulzar’ (January 11, 2020) by Jamal Khurshid. The chief justice has rightly reprimanded the ADG CAA on account of poor facilities at airports. It has become a fashion to disregard the Supreme Court’s judgments without any fear of accountability. Despite directions given to probe massive corruption in the construction of the New Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad it continued unabated and as a result the project cost escalated from Rs38 billion to over Rs100 billion.
There needs to be a proper enquiry into the poor management of the CAA. Those who have damaged the structure of the CAA must be held accountable so as to provide a deterrent against future mismanagement and malpractice.
