‘Govt must resolve issues with logistics industry’

KARACHI: Government should immediately negotiate with Piffa, Acaap and other logistics industry members to address their grievances so the strike is called off, said Fawad Ijaz Khan, Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA).
He said, “Exports of the country suffered on Tuesday as there was no activity at the ports and no bill of lading issued for exports. Our members have suffered losses as their export consignments were not entertained and their scheduled vessels missed.”
Khan further added that the country’s exports were already declining and if the strike continued, exports will suffer as our orders will not be delivered on time.
He said government should seriously take notice of the matter and immediately resolve the issues of the logistics sector.
Khan said exporters were concerned and astonished that neither a single bill of lading was issued nor any delivery order given for lifting of import consignments at any of the ports across the country. It is a serious matter and the government should intervene and resolve the issue, he said. —Hina Mahgul Rind
