Digital internship portal launched

ISLAMABAD: Digital Pakistan Internship (DPI) portal is a step in the right direction to recognise talent and eliminate bottlenecks that potentially slow the growth of Pakistan’s IT (information technology) industry, a top official said on Wednesday.

“The present government is committed for the growth of IT industry and of the youth of the country,” said Shoaib Ahmad Siddique, Federal Secretary Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, while inaugurating the DPI portal.

A government statement said it was a major milestone in efforts to accelerate the growth of IT Industry in Pakistan as the newly developed, state-of-the art portal would enhance collaboration and cooperation between the country’s IT industry, local universities, and the relevant graduates.

Siddiqui said the youth, being the resourceful segment of the society, were the future of the country”. “It is vital to engage youth with healthy activities to enable them to come forward to play role in nation building. He said that Pakistan’s IT sector has a promising future,” the federal secretary said.
