Narcotics numbers

The Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control was recently informed of statistics that say that there are some seven million drug users in the country. The committee was informed that drug-related deaths were greater than those caused by terrorism – the latter kills 39 each day compared to 700 deaths from drug addiction every day.
There is another destructive role attained by the narcotics trade, ie, its purported links to terrorism in the country. These two problems are wreaking havoc in society. The painful thing is that drugs are available easily and come cheap in our country. The authorities concerned should wake up to the drug crisis.
