Security on alert after Quetta blast

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Punjab Shoaib Dastgir directed the officials concerned to tighten security across the province after Quetta blast.

The IG directed all RPOs and DPOs to increase the security of sensitive installations, worship places, hospitals, and parks. He directed them to tighten security at inter-provincial and inter-district check-posts and increase the patrolling hours of patrolling forces of Dolphin, PRU etc to increase the search sweep and combing operations across all districts of the province.

arrested: Iqbal Town Division police in a crackdown against the criminals arrested 66 criminals and recovered eight pistols, one rifle, bullets, 110g Charas and 133 bottles of liquor.

Iqbal Town Division SP Captain ® Muhammad Ajmal had directed the DSPs and SHOs concerned to take strict action against criminal gangs. Accordingly, Iqbal Town Division Police busted gangs and arrested its four members along with recoveries worth thousands of rupees from them. Police also recovered Rs276,000 from six criminals in action against gamblers. Moreover, 11 proclaimed and court offenders of A&B categories in cases of theft, cheque dishonor fraud and other crimes were arrested.

Fire: A woman and her two children received burn injuries when a fire erupted at a home in Audit and Accounts Society in Sattukatla police limits on Tuesday. The victims were identified as Esha, wife of Bilal and her children as Zulqarnain, 6, and Bilal, 11. In another incident, youngsters threw petrol on 15-year-old Fayyaz, son of Waris, of Karol village, during a scuffle over a minor issue.

Roof collapse: Three persons received injuries when the roof of a room collapsed in the Nishtar Colony police limits on Tuesday. Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to General Hospital Lahore. They were identified as Amna, 26, wife of Nazir, and her children Rimsha, 9 and Akash, 7 of Khalid Nagar Youhanabad, Ferozpur Road.
