PPP in the dock

This refers to the news report, ‘Dr Asim Hussain detained in Karachi’ (August 27). The arrest is a very significant development in the context of the National Action Plan. Along with Yusuf Raza Gilani and Amin Fahim, these arrests seem to have rattled the PPP leadership.
This massive anti-corruption drive has prompted Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah to warn the government of ‘grave consequences’. This kind of threat can only be described as a futile attempt to save the PPP top leadership from the accountability process.
