Unicef education chief visits ECE schools

TOBA TEK SINGH: Unicef education chief Ms Euphrates Thursday visited two early childhood education (ECE) schools.
District monitoring officer Asif Ali Dogar, EDO (education) Rao Attiq Ahmad, Unicef’s education specialists Ms Rubina Nadeem and Asif Ibrar were also with her.
It was the first day of her visit of 300 ECE schools.
She took part in children’s teaching activity and questioned kids about their study atmosphere. She also met DCO Amer Ijaz Akbar who told the delegation that the ECE classrooms had been launched successfully in 300 schools and a separate system had been formed to monitor the schools.
COTTON SOWN ON 113,380 ACRES: Cotton has been sown on 113,380 acres of land in the district and most of the crop had been saved from recent torrential rains.
However, some farmers had to spend extra money on pesticide spray due to excessive rain.
Talking to reporters, EDO (agriculture) Shahzad Sabir said seminars had been arranged at Kamalia, Gojra, Rajana, Pirmahal, Chuttiana and Toba to apprise the farmers about suitable time for pesticide spray on cotton crop.
