Chief secretary for ensuring facilities in shelter homes

LAHORE:On the directions of the prime minister and chief minister, Punjab Chief Secretary Major (Retd) Azam Suleman Khan is monitoring facilitation process at shelter homes in Punjab and for the purpose he is in close liaison and contact with all commissioners and deputy commissioners across province.

He is passing instructions to the field officers to ensure all facilities including food and other necessities to the homeless people in shelter homes. All administrative officers told the chief secretary that in this regard only in Bahawalpur Division 8 shelter homes have been set up, in 3 districts, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan where 241 people have been housed up till now. Similarly, in DG Khan Division 5 Shelter Homes have been set up in 4 districts, DG Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Rajanpur where 60 people have been housed. Whereas in Faisalabad Division 16 shelter homes have been set up in 4 districts, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Jhang & TT Singh and 563 are currently residing there. Moreover, Gujranwala Division has 10 shelter homes in its 6 districts including Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal and Sialkot with 108 poor people.
