‘Tax issues at customs be fixed’
KARACHI: Tax practitioners have urged Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to resolve the issue of sales tax input adjustment on differential amount paid at customs stage, The News learnt on Thursday.
Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA), in a letter to Member Inland Revenue (Policy), said the issue had been unresolved since 2013.
In a previous communication in November 2013 and June 2014, the KTBA had highlighted the issue of non-adjustment of input tax paid through challans of bills of additional duty.
The association said the taxpayers were still unable to claim adjustments on such amount paid as differential duty and taxes at customs stage.
The tax bar further said the issue had been resolved at Customs online system, i.e., WeBOC. However, in the manual system, i.e., One Customs, the uploading of such challans for availing input adjustment was still not available.
The KTBA said the input claim of the payment of the tax was the legitimate right of taxpayers, thus this issue should be resolved at the earliest.
