LAHORE
Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) launched a cleanliness and awareness drive in the Band Road area and an underprivileged locality in the suburb of the city here Wednesday.
Officials said at least 150 tons of waste was removed from several open plots after a massive cleanup operation backed by heavy machinery and a force of 100 workers. Cleanup operation was followed by an awareness activity consisted of a community-led walk, registration and on the spot resolution of waste related complaints by setting up camps, public briefing and distribution of pamphlets. Jamil Khawar, LWMC Head of communication Department led the awareness activities attended by other senior officials from LWMC, Ozpak and local community. Local political representatives and residents appreciated and thanked LWMC for the operation cleanup as it had been a neglected area and sore point since long. Meanwhile, Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) has signed a contract with Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) during a formal ceremony held at LWMC head office.
