LAKKI MARWAT: The members of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga and leaders of political parties on Sunday sought punishment for the alleged killer who killed a medical student, Asma Rani, two years ago in Kohat.
A protest to this effect was staged in Serai Naurang tehsil which was attended by the members of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga and leaders of the political parties, besides relatives of the slain student, Asma Rani.
Speaking on the occasion, Jamaat-e-Islami district head Azizullah Khan said that it would be a condemnable act on the part of the quarters concerned if the 7 Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) section was deleted from the case.
“It’s not a simple murder case but an open terrorism act on the part of the accused, Mujahid Afridi, to have killed a medical student in front of her house in Kohat two years ago,” he added.
Zar Badshah said that they would not allow anyone to remove the anti-terrorism section in the first information report registered against the accused.
The father of the slain student, Ghulam Dastagir, alleged that the members of ruling party were making hectic efforts to influence the court as well as remove the 7-Anti-Terrorism Act section. Mufti Irfanullah said that the Marwat Qaumi Jirga
would always stand by the bereaved family and would launch protest movement in case of any injustice.
Malik Waqas said, “It’s the priority of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf to provide justice to the victims and in this case the accused, Mujahid Afridi, should be punished at the earliest.”
