New law to protect medics, hospitals: CM

LAHORE:A meeting of the cabinet committee on law and order was held at CM Office Friday under the chair of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

The meeting reviewed progress made in the case of vandalism in PIC and measures taken for resuming the hospital's working. It was decided that legislation would be made in order to provide necessary security to doctors, paramedical staff and the hospitals.

The chief minister directed to present a Health Professionals Security Bill in the next meeting of cabinet along with completing relevant matters of legislation. He said that security would be provided to the hospitals, doctors and paramedical staff and no one would be allowed to torture doctors, paramedical staff and patients in the hospitals.

Indiscriminate action is being taken against those involved in hooliganism and all requirements of justice will be fulfilled in this case. The elements that took the law into their hands deserve no leniency, he said. Law will come into action against the elements involved in illegal activities, he said.

The chief minister was briefed that cheques of financial aid had been distributed among the bereaved families of those who lost their lives during this rampage. All the doctors and people whose vehicles were damaged during this incident have also been compensated.

POLIO CAMPAIGN: The chief minister has assigned the responsibilities to provincial ministers at divisional level for the success of anti-polio campaign. Provincial ministers will monitor and provide assistance in special anti-polio campaign being observed from 16th December to 20th December.

On the special instructions of the chief minister, Murad Raas will monitor anti-polio campaign in Lahore Division, Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmed will supervise anti-polio campaign in Faisalabad Division, Yasir Humayun in Rawalpindi Division and Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi will monitor anti-polio campaign in Sargodha Division. Moreover, responsibilities of monitoring anti-polio campaign in Gujranwala and Sahiwal Divisions have been assigned to Muhammad Akhlaq and Nauman Langrial respectively.

Similarly, Samiullah Chaudhry, Mohsin Leghari and Muhammad Akhtar will supervise anti-polio campaign in Bahawalpur Division, DG Khan Division and Multan Division respectively. The ministers will review the arrangements made for the anti-polio campaign in their respective divisions and submit their reports to the chief minister. Usman Buzdar directed that provincial ministers should ensure the process of administering polio vaccine to every single child in their respective divisions. He said that eradication of polio is a national obligation and we all have to play our due role in curbing the polio from the country. He directed that no stone should be left unturned for protecting the children from the polio. He also appealed to parents that they should get administered polio vaccine to their children.

SPORTSMAN CALLS ON CM

Arshad Nadeem, resident of Mian Channu and a player who set a new record in javelin throw in South Asian Games 2019, called on the chief minister in CM’s office Friday. It is worth mentioning that Arshad Nadeem won gold medal in SAF games held at Kathmandu by throwing javelin to a distance of 86.29 meter and qualified for Tokyo Olympics.

The chief minister congratulated Arshad Nadeem for setting a new record and for qualifying Tokyo Olympics. He also gave cheque of Rs5 lakh to Arshad Nadeem.

Usman Buzdar said that Arshad Nadeem by winning gold medal in SAF game brought laurels home. He said that such players are the asset to the country. He said that Arshad Nadeem is the professional and capable player and may Allah Almighty grant further success to him in future as well. He said the Punjab government would continue to support talented players. The chief minister also congratulated the parents of Arshad Nadeem. Provincial Minister for sports Taimur Bhatti, DG Punjab Sports Board, parents of Arshad Nadeem, brother and minor daughter were also present on this occasion.

CONDOLENCES

The chief minister has expressed deep grief over the sad demise of mother of former DGPR Amjad Hussain Bhatti. In his condolence message, the chief minister said that words are not enough to describe the grief over the loss of the mother who is a precious gift from Allah Almighty. He prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the members of the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.

Usman Buzdar has expressed deep grief over the loss of precious human lives in a traffic accident on Qila Saifullah Road.

The chief minister expressed heartfelt sympathies with bereaved family members. The chief minister while praying for the early recovery of the injured said that all the sympathies of the Punjab government were with the bereaved families.
