All private schools in Sindh have been directed to cooperate with vaccination teams which will carry out a five-day anti-polio drive starting from Monday.
The schools received on Friday a circular issued by the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sind (DIRPIS) on Friday. It said polio was one of the viral diseases which could cause permanent disability.
According to the circular, the anti- polio supplementary immunisation campaign is planned by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department with the collaboration of the provincial health department.
Children up to the age of five will be administered polio drops during the drive which will end December 20. The circular warned that strict action would be taken against schools which did not cooperate with vaccination teams. The action would be taken against such schools under the Sindh Private Educational Institutions (Regulation & Control) Ordinance 2001, it said.
