PESHAWAR: Senior Minister for Sports and Tourism Muhammad Atif Khan on Thursday said that after the successful conduct of the National Games, the provincial games would be organised. The provincial games would be organised at the tehsil and then at the district level to provide opportunities to the players at the grassroots level. The decision was taken at a meeting of Sports Management Committee chaired by Senior Minister Atif Khan. Athletes and coaches, including Director General Sports Asfandyar Khattak, Director Operations Sports Saqlain Shah, attended the meeting. The meeting also decided to recruit coaches for both male and female players. The senior minister directed the sports authorities to launch an annual budget talent hunt programme. The senior minister said that health insurance scheme would also be launched for the players from the sports department. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa winning medals would be launched soon. The minister added that the provincial government was taking serious steps to promote sports and Rs26 billion were being spent in this regard.
