Christian girl seeks financial help to become doctor

LANDIKOTAL: A Christian girl who secured position in her school has appealed to the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to finance her education so that she could become the first ever Christian female doctor in her community living in Khyber Agency.
Sarah Masih, 18, resident of Landikotal, told The News that she got 720 marks in F Sc Pre-Medical Group. She said she topped the class in the Government Higher Secondary School in Landikotal.
She said her parents were jobless and too poor to afford her further education. She complained that the teachers at her school didn’t regularly perform duty, but she worked hard and studied at home.
Sarah Masih said she was striving to bring a change in the life of her family.
“The poor law and order situation and the 20-hour long loadshedding in Landikotal couldn’t dampen my enthusiasm to study and achieve my goal,” she remarked.
Yaqoob Masih, the 65 year old father of Sarah Masih, said he had worked as Class-IV employee for 30 years and has now retired. He said he couldn’t make both ends meet after retirement. He asked the government to provide his family financial help so that his daughter could pursue studies to become a doctor.
