MULTAN: The lady health workers (LHWs) on Monday staged a demonstration and blocked Kutchehry Chowk against the sacking of their colleagues.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribing slogans against the decision. They said that the Punjab Health Department had suspended two lady health workers, four lady health supervisors and a driver, including Punjab National Programme for Health Employees Association president Rukhsana Anwar. The department had suspended them for participating in a protest rally in Bahawalpur more than a year ago, the LHWs said. They demanded reinstatement of suspended LHWs and a driver.
