MANSEHRA: The police have booked the Torghar deputy commissioner in connection with the recent attack on the Tehsil Municipal Officer and summoned him to appear before the district police officer for investigation today (Monday).

According to the written complaint by Tehsil Municipal Officer Ghulam Murtaza, he was attacked and injured on the order of the deputy commissioner of Torghar. The first information report (FIR) was lodged with the Darbani Police Station under 407, 186-506, 147 and 109 sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

“As we have lodged the FIR against five Levies personnel and a clerk and you (DC) and, therefore, you are ordered to appear before undersigned (DPO Torghar) on Monday for investigation,” said the order issued by District Police Officer Hafiz Janis Khan.

Ghulam Murtaza in his FIR stated that he was dragged and tortured by attackers on the behest of Torghar Deputy Commissioner Javed Ali Orakzai, but the latter denied the allegations, saying he was not involved in the attack. The deputy commissioner told reporters that he had just asked TMO Ghulam Murtaza to hand over the moveable assets, including an official vehicle used previously by tehsil nazim of Kunder Hassanzai, to the committee constituted for that purpose by the order of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Governments, Election and Rural Development Department.
