PHC’s directives vindicate QWP’s stance on BRT, claims leader
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Friday said the recent directives of the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to the Federal Investigation Agency to conduct inquiry into Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project vindicated the stance of his party.
In a statement issued from Watan Kor here, he said the QWP had time and again expressed reservations about the ill-conceived and poorly executed project.
Sikandar Sherpao said that the court also questioned the logic behind launching the so-called mega project in the provincial capital instead of spending the money on uplift projects across the province.
He said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had claimed to complete the project within six months, but it could not see the light of the day despite the passage of two years.
The QWP leader said that from the outset the project was fraught with technical issues as it had serious design faults. He added the PTI government was not interested in serving the people and honouring the election pledges.
Sikandar Sherpao said the PTI rulers deceived the people in the name of change, which was a ploy to reach the corridors of power.
