Judicial panel concludes Nimrita committed suicide
SUKKUR: The Judicial Commission constituted to conduct a probe into the mysterious death of Nimrita Chandani has concluded that she had committed suicide, while ruling out murder.
A BDS final year student of Assefa Medical and Dental College, Larkana, Nimrita was found dead in her hostel room on September 16, 2019. The mysterious manner of her death had prompted the family to suspect foul play. The case further drew controversy when NADRA reported mishandling of the critical evidence.
According to sources, the Judicial Commission into Nimrita Chandani’s mysterious death has concluded its findings and despatched its 17-page report to the Sindh Home Department.
The judicial commission headed by District and Sessions Judge Larkana conducted hearings of witnesses including students, teachers and staff of the Assefa Medical and Dental College, Larkana. The commission also reviewed the police investigations, postmortem and DNA reports, forensic data of Nimrita’s cell phone and her laptop and those of the suspects and other related evidence.
The judicial panel concluded that “Nimrita was under severe stress following refusal of her marriage proposal by her friend. Owing to severe stress and dejection and frustration, Nimrita committed suicide.”
The judicial panel while reviewing the investigations and evidence could not detect murder in the case.
