Khalil Akhtar, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir among top-50 world shooters at 2019-end
KARACHI: Pakistan’s top shooters Khalil Akhtar and Ghulam Mustafa Bashir finished among the top-50 shooters of the world at the end of 2019.
This was revealed in the world rankings for 2019 released by International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF).
Khalil stood 13th and Bashir 40th in 25-metre Rapid Fire Pistol event. Both the shooters have already won quota places for Tokyo Olympics. Khalil did that during an event in Rio and Bashir in Doha.
They are to feature in Olympic Games Test Event in Tokyo from April 16-26 next year. Farrukh Nadeem stood 84th and Aamir Iqbal 155th in Trap event. In Skeet event, Usman Chand took the 88th position and Usman Ahmed the 133rd place.
Bashir has also improved his Asian rankings. According the rankings released by Asian Shooting Confederation (ASC), Bashir improved one ranking position to be at the 7th spot. Khalil moved to 11th from 7th.
