New water supply scheme launched

HARIPUR: Minister for Communication and Works Akbar Ayub Khan has said that a plan has been devised to address the complaints of water shortage in urban areas of the district.

This he said while addressing the participants of the inaugural ceremony of a new water supply scheme for Mohallah Motiyan here on Monday. The minister said six new tube-wells were in the process of completion while a new supply line worth billions of rupees from the natural source of potable water called Thanda Choha was also being laid, which would help the civic authorities ensure enough availability of drinking water for next three decades. He said with the inauguration of tube-well of Mohallah Motiyan, the residents of Mohalla Motiyan, New Abadi Mohallah Motiyan, District Secretariat, Mohallah Qadeem, Rehmania Town and Mohallah New Sabzi Mandi would be facilitated. The minister told the audience that for ensuring health-friendly supply of potable water to the consumers, the old supply lines would be replaced with new ones within the next few months, while work on beautification of Haripur city was also underway. Recounting his achievements during his current stint as provincial minister, Akbar Ayub Khan said that the work on Haripur Bypass Road, Haripur-Islamabad road via Lora Makhniyal, Tarnava-Kohala Road, Farooqia dual carriage road, New Women and Children’s Hospital, and up-gradation of DHQ Hospital to category-A were in progress.
