Lawyers boycott work at SHC to protest against Norway incident

Karachi

November 27, 2019

The legal fraternity observed a strike at the Sindh High Court on Tuesday to protest against a bid to desecrate a copy of the Holy Quran at a rally in Norway and demanded of the Norwegian government to take strong action against individuals and forces involved in the most condemnable act.

The lawyers held a general body meeting in the bar room of the Sindh High Court Bar Association and strongly condemned the sacrilegious incident, which had greatly hurt the sentiments of the Muslims the world over.

In their addresses, lawyer leaders said the sanctity of the holy book and the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the most important part of faith for the Muslims.

They demanded that elements having an extremist mindset against the Muslims and their religion must be brought to book. They said sacrilegious incidents could not be justified in the name of freedom of expression in any manner. The lawyers’ association demanded effective legislation worldwide to ensure the sanctity of all religions.
