Growers stage demonstrations

BAHAWALPUR: Growers of Bahawalpur division on Wednesday staged demonstrations against the government policies at Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahimyar Khan. They staged demonstrations under the platform of the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad. In Bahawalpur, the Pakistan Kisan Ittehad activists staged a demonstration at University Chowk and raised slogans against unjustified rise in agriculture tube-wells tariff by three times and rise in fertiliser and seed prices. They also took out a protest rally from University Chowk to the press club.

The protesters demanded reduction in the electricity tariff. They warned they would stage a protest in Lahore with their families and children if their demands were not met. Growers at Bahawalnagar also staged a demonstration outside Bahawalnagar Press Club and they burnt their tube-wells electricity bills.
