KARACHI: A draft of model constitution for cricket associations prepared by PCB’s external legal counsels and finalised by PCB’s top officials would be presented in the PCB Governing Board meeting scheduled to be held on Friday in Lahore, ‘The News’ learnt on Tuesday.
The PCB GB members would review the draft and are likely to approve it after consultations, sources said.
It has to be mentioned that PCB has already established six regional teams for the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy: Balochistan, Central Punjab, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, Northern, Sindh, and Southern Punjab. But how these will be managed has not been decided yet.
Under clause 16(5) of the PCB Constitution, all six associations would be required to adopt the model constitution provided by the PCB for regulating their affairs.
The proposed model constitution has been drafted in harmony with the PCB constitution, and sets out not only the objects and functions but also provides guidelines and rules pertaining to the operation and regulation of the affairs of the associations, a source said.
The sources said the associations would be independent legal entities, responsible for the development of first class cricket in the country and tasked with the supervision of city association within their respective jurisdiction.
