MANSEHRA: Provincial Emergency Operation Centre Coordinator Abdul Basit Khan has visited Torghar district where seven polio cases have recently been reported and sought deputy commissioners’ help to cope with situation.
“I am here to tell you that how dangerous consequences your children of five years and below could face if you don’t administer polio drops to them,” the coordinator told a group of parents in Harnail Union Council in Judbah tehsil on Monday. A team of EOC, led by Basit Khan, on first day of case response activity visited Torghar and sensitised government officials and parents. He told reporters in Judbah that over 1193550 children in 11 districts would be administered polio drops during the ongoing case response activity in Hazara division. “We have set up 5212 polio teams and 285 supervising teams and 162 provincial and federal monitors would supervise them in all eleven districts,” the official said. He said that on the special directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary, the commissioners and line departments were also extending their support to polio cause.
“We would also administer polio drops to 35000 children in Torghar district where seven cases of polio have recently recorded,” he added. The coordinator would also visit other districts in Hazara division where case response activity was well in progress. Also in the day, polio case response activity drive was also launched in Mansehra and Torghar districts. “We would ensure that all 35000 targeted children could be administered polio drops and overcome situation in the district,” Javed Khan Orakzai, the deputy commissioner of Torghar, told reporters.
