KARACHI: The Sindh Anti-Corruption Department has launched an investigation into millions of rupees corruption in different departments of Mirpurkhas Division.
According to the official record of the Sindh Anti-Corruption Department (copies available with The News) the officers of Sindh Police, Sindh Revenue Department and Local Government of Mirpurkhas Division embezzled millions of rupees.
The Anti-Corruption Department has started investigation against them on the complaints of private persons and officers of the departments concerned.According to details, an investigation was launched into embezzlement of Rs15.529 this year against former assistant accountant, head constable and a policeman of District Police Office Mirpurkhas on the complaint of District Police Officer (DPO).
An investigation into Rs15.03 million fraud has been started against former food supervisor Mithi of the Sindh Food Department on the complaint of District food Controller (DFC). An investigation into corruption of Rs9.5 million of year 2008 has been started against former Union Council Nazim and former four secretaries of union council on the complaint of a private person.
Further an investigation into embezzlement of Rs52.81 million has been started against former assistant commissioner and administrator of Taluka Diplo, assistant director Local Government Local Fund Audit, two accountants, a computer operator and an official of Sindh Bank.
Investigation into corruption of Rs8.5 million has been started against former Nazim of 2009 of Mirpurkhas, former Town Municipal Officer (TMO), two town officers and one contractor. Further investigations have been started against former Mukhtiarkar Chachro, Nazim Umarkot and his staff for fraudulently selling 60-acre of government land and encroachment of government land.
On the other hand, a recommendation by the Sindh Anti-Corruption Department has been sent to the Sindh chief minister for issuance of directions to all heads of Anti-Corruption Committees for expediting the process of curbing the corruption.
In an official letter, a copy also available with The News, Chairman Anti-Corruption Department Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has requested the Sindh chief minister to bind the heads of all Anti-Corruption Committees to hold meetings of committees within specified time.
Shah suggested the chief minister Sindh that a meeting of Anti-Corruption Committee One (ACC-1) should be held once a month. ACC-1, which is headed by the chief secretary, deals with the matters of financial corruption of grade 17 to grade 20 officers and decides further action after verifying facts, while the Anti-Corruption Committee Two (ACC-2) deals with the matters of corruption of grade 11 to grade 16 officers headed by the divisional commissioners and Anti-Corruption Committee three (ACC-3), headed by the deputy commissioner of concerned district, deals with the matters of grade 1 to grade 6 of Sindh government officials. Chairman Sindh Anti-corruption Department Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah confirmed the investigations against the officers of Mirpurkhas division.
