Egyptian envoy hosts reception

To mark the 63rd anniversary of the October Revolution, the Ambassador of Egypt, Said Hindam, hosted a reception at the Serena Hotel which was attended by his colleagues from the diplomatic community and Pakistanis from different walks of life, including political entities.
The guest of honour was Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanweer Husain. As the ambassador has completed his tenure and will be leaving shortly, the occasion also served as an event to say goodbye to all those friends; acquaintances and colleagues whom he has not met at the private farewells that have been hosted for him.
Welcoming the gathering, the host said it was 63 years ago that the revolution had taken place with the full support of the people, leading to a new era of prosperity just as Arab Spring movement of 2013 also had the support of the people.
Mentioning the inauguration of the 'new' Suez Canal, he said it was Egypt's gift to the world as it would make distances shorter and boost the economy, bringing prosperity for the people of Egypt. He went on to speak of the 'excellent' bilateral relations between Pakistan; their resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms; their volume of trade and cooperation in defence production, for which the Egyptian Defence Minister had visited Pakistan to hold meetings with his counterpart and concluded by saying that it gave him satisfaction that during his tenure, there had been an improvement in all aspects of this relationship. "I had a memorable time in Pakistan and I wish the country peace and prosperity," he said.
The guest of honour also spoke of the 'deep and binding' ties between Pakistan and Egypt and their cooperation in many fields for the mutual benefit of the peoples of both countries. He concluded by conveying best wishes on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the government and people of Egypt.
Dinner was served and there were many Egyptian specialties for guests to savour. It was discovered that all the food had been prepared at the embassy residence to give an authentic taste of Egyptian cuisine to the guests. For those who have not visited this interesting country that has existed for centuries there were posters and literature to take away and tempt them to make it their next holiday destination.
