An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday acquitted four workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) from charges of possession of illegal arms, explosive material and police encounter.
Shahid alias Pakwan, Kamran, Obaid and Siddiq alias Manna were arrested in 2014 by a team led by Inspector Shafiq Tanoli from the area of Mochko police station.
The police had claimed that they recovered some illegal arms and explosive material from the possession of the four accused, but the charges could not be proved before the court. The police had also declared that the workers were arrested after a police encounter but no proof was presented to the court in this regard.
The court announced acquittal of the four MQM workers as the prosecution failed to prove any charges against them.
