The teams of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Enforcement Directorate, which had initiated a grand operation against illegal slums and other encroachments in different areas, on Wednesday demolished more than 85 illegal houses constructed in sectors I-10 and H-10.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of officials of the authority. It was also participated by the ICT assistant commissioner, SSP, DSP, cops and the enforcement staff of CDA.
During the operation, dozens of the illegally-constructed slums were razed with the help of heavy machinery.
Some of the illegal occupants have been given two-day extension to remove encroachments on their own on their request. On their failure, the CDA would raze illegal houses as well.
Prior to Eidul Fitr, the CDA intimated the illegal occupants and the encroachers through public awareness notices, announcements in the mosques and through the media for vacating the CDA land in adverse possession to avoid the operation against them.
The operation is being carried out with the approval of the Ministry of Interior. The Islamabad High Court had also directed for operation against illegal slums in the capital. The CDA has announced that the operation would be conducted on daily basis to ensure removal of the encroachments. Special teams of Enforcement Directorate would continue operation today (Thursday) in sectors I-10 and H-10.
Member Administration and Estate Amer Ali Ahmed has directed the concerned officials to vigorously carry out the operation across the board to ensure removal of encroachments from the CDA land.
He also directed the concerned officials to ensure an effective monitoring mechanism to discourage re-emergence of encroachments in these areas.
