20 die on Eid days

LAHOREAt least 20 people died in different incidents in different areas of the city during the three days of Eid. A 37-year-old man was shot dead by his brother-in-laws in Nawankot area on Eid day. The victim was identified as Saqib who had recently returned from Dubai to celebrate Eid.

At least 20 people died in different incidents in different areas of the city during the three days of Eid.
A 37-year-old man was shot dead by his brother-in-laws in Nawankot area on Eid day.
The victim was identified as Saqib who had recently returned from Dubai to celebrate Eid. Police said the victim was living in Jhuggian Nagran Nawankot. It was reported that Saqib had divorced his first wife Shazia and married her sister, upon which her brothers nursed grudge against him.
On the day of the incident, the victim was on his way when the accused identified as Usman and Rizwan approached him and shot him to death. Police registered a murder case on the complaint of the victim’s brother Suhail Raza.
Two women ended their lives on various issues. A pregnant woman committed suicide by jumping off the roof of her house in Shafiqabad area on Eid day.
The deceased was identified as Iram Shahzadi, a nurse. On the day of the incident, Iram along with her husband came to the house of her husband’s maternal uncle where the couple started exchanging hot words over an unknown issue. Upon which Iram got infuriated, went to the rooftop of the house and jumped off the building, resulting into her instant death. Police handed over the body to the heirs after completing legal formalities.
Yet in another incident, a 20-year-old maid committed suicide by hanging herself in Shadbagh police area.
The deceased was identified as Amana of Bhagatpura near Paniwali Tanki Shadbagh. On the day of incident, the house inmates found her body hanging with the ceiling of her room. Police said that circumstantial evidences had suggested that she committed suicide. However, post-mortem would ascertain the real cause of death, police added.
A 50-year-old prisoner, who was sentenced to life in prison, died of cardiac seizure in Kot Lakhpat Jail on Eid day.
It was reported that Tajammul Hussain had been sentenced to life in prison in connection with a drug case registered against him in Sadar Gujrat. On the day of the incident, he suffered a heart attack. He was shifted to hospital where he expired. Police handed over the body to the family.
A 55-year-old private employee of a police official died after falling from the roof of the Garhi Shahu Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Shahid of Chah Miran, Shadbagh. It was reported that Shahid was employed by a police official served in Garhi Shahu police station. On the day of the incident, Shahid accidentally slipped while attending a phone call and fell off the roof, resulting into his death.
Two children died when the roof of their dilapidated house collapsed in Bhatti Gate area on Eid day.
The victims were identified as Ahmad, 8, Sumaira, 4, children of Muhammad Sadique of Mohallah Jalootian. Sadique, his wife Rasheedan Bibi, his daughter Salma, 9, and a one-year-old Suffian received injuries. Upon being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene, pulled the house inmates out of the debris and rushed them to a local hospital where their condition was said to be out of danger.
A man died and his wife sustained injuries when the roof of their house collapsed in Batapur area. The man identified as Bashir and his wife were present in a room when its roof collapsed. As a result, they were trapped under debris. The rescuers rushed to the scene and pulled the injured couple out of the debris and rushed them to a local hospital where Bashir yielded to his injuries.
Meanwhile, seven people received injuries when the roof of a mosque collapsed on Walton Road Factory Area. Three people received injuries when a plaza building collapsed in Shah Alam Market.
Three people were electrocuted in various parts of the city during the last three days.
The victims identified as Sadique, 50, and Umar, 23, were on their way on a bike when they were electrocuted in Nawankot area due to electric current running through the rainwater.
Yet in another incident, an 18-year-old youth was electrocuted in Qila Gujar Singh area. The man was identified as Adeel of Qila Gujar Singh area. On the day of incident, he was on his way on a cycle when he accidentally touched an electric wire fallen in the stagnant rainwater inundated Copper Road. Police registered a case against the responsible Wapda officials on the complaint of the victim’s father.
Five people lost their lives in roadside accidents during the last three days.
An eighteen-year-old youth, Usman, was killed by a bike rider in Batapur area. The victim Usman was crossing a road when a bike rider hit him while performing stunt. As a result, he received serious injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he expired.
A man identified as Aslam was killed by a rashly driven car in Township area. Yet in another accident, a youth identified as Imran was crushed to death by a speeding car on Baidian Road. One Hamid and Awais, who received injuries in road accidents in Kot Lakhpat and Harbanspura respectively, expired in a local hospital.
Four people were found dead in various parts of the city during three Eid holidays.
Naulakha police recovered an old man dead from his quarter in Landa Bazaar. Police claimed that the man identified as Bashir might have died of some medical complications.
Meanwhile, Nawankot, Factory Area, Bhatti Gate, and Lorri Adda police stations recovered each body from their respective jurisdictions. Bodies, yet to be identified, were shifted to morgue for autopsy to ascertain the cause of deaths.
An eighteen-year-old youth was found dead on a Lahore-bound train. Police believed that the boy might have died at the hands of some unidentified swindlers who served him some poisonous substance for looting. The body yet to be identified was removed to morgue for autopsy.
A 25-year-old youth died in an elevator accident in Kot Lakhpat area. The deceased was identified as Adeel, a lift operator in a local factory in Kot Lakhpat. Police said the elevator collapsed on Chand Raat. As a result, he received serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
GOODS GUTTED IN BANK FIRE: Goods including furniture and electronic appliances were gutted when a fire broke out in a private bank in City Raiwind area on Monday. The cause of the fire was said to be a short circuit. Fire fighters rushed the scene and extinguished the fire. No casualty was reported in the incident.
