The inaugural ceremony of newly-constructed building and computer lab of Government Wasif Ali Wasif Boys High School, Gulshan-e-Ravi, was held here on Thursday.
The new furniture, computers, printer, fans, sound system, sports items and school bags for the school have been provided by an NGO.
The ceremony was attended by Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan while Chief Executive of NGO Sarwat Jehan, EDO Education Pervaiz Akhtar and teachers were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister claimed “Parho Punjab-Barho Punjab” initiative was running successfully as not only school enrolment had increased but provision of missing facilities had also improved after launching of this campaign.
The role of NGO is commendable to counter the increasing tendency of intolerance in society, he added.
Rana Mashhood said government considered education the most effective weapon to overcome all challenges being faced by the country adding that was why the government allocated record 27 percent budget for education.
He said the government appreciated every NGO which was playing role in promotion of education.
He said a school council consisting of locals would be constituted to improve the performance of the school. Moreover, teachers training would also be arranged.
Sarwat Jehan said that civil society should play its role in promotion of education along with government.
Later, the education minister also chaired a ceremony organised by a private hospital in which auto rickshaws, sewing machines and food were distributed among employees.
Addressing the event, the minister said youth was the future of the country and to equip them with modern education was guarantee of our bright future.
Maulana Fazal-ur-Raheem, Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Shaheema Rehman and Secretary Zakat Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani were also present on the occasion.
