ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Ishaq Dar is shocked about the allegation leveled by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the latest report submitted before the Supreme Court (SC) relating to misuse of authority and creating assets beyond his means.
“I am shocked to learn from media about certain allegations leveled against me relating to misuse of authority and assets beyond means, appeared to be released by NAB authorities,” the minister said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that he was regularly disclosing all his income and assets in his annual tax returns as well as in statement of assets with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The same were in public knowledge, gazzetted by ECP and could be accessed on ECP’s website, he added.
“These allegations are baseless and frivolous and hence are outrightly rejected,” he concluded. However, a close aide of the finance minister told this scribe that the minister decided to carry these allegations to the logical conclusion by exhausting all legal options. There were three cases in the NAB submitted report where on the basis of anonymous complaint an inquiry against him was underway from last 15 years without any apparent result.
