Merit crucified

This refers to the news report, ‘CM, governor appointing senior officials in violation of due process’ (June 29). People are fed up with the politicians because they are in the habit of misusing their positions to appoint persons of their choice. This is especially deplorable as the complaint relates to the education department where merit is all the more important. No wonder our standard of education is rapidly falling.
The political elite in this country has no interest in the welfare of the people. The laws are meant for the common man while politicians flout them with impunity. People will heave a sigh of relief when we get rid of political terrorism.
