KARACHI: K-Electric entered the quarter-finals of the 30th Karachi Gymkhana Omar Associates Ramazan Festival Twenty20 Cricket Tournament 2015 as they short-circuited Shaboo Stars by 90 runs here at the Karachi Gymkhana Cricket Ground on Monday.
Batting first after winning the toss, K-Electric got off to flying start through openers Kamran Ghulam and Faraz Ali, both of whom hit half centuries and put on 97 for the first wicket in 13.3 overs.
Faraz was dismissed after scoring 52 off 40 balls with the help of seven fours, but Kamran remained undefeated on 91 off 60 balls, smashing a six and 10 fours, allowing his team to finish with a respectable total of 164 for two in 20 overs.
Shaboo Stars crashed to 74 all out in 17.2 overs, demolished by the spin duo of Faraz Ahmed (3-10) and Shahzeb Ahmed (3-16) after left-arm seamer Taj Wali (2-10) gave them early breakthrough.
Kamran also chipped in with a couple of wickets with his left-arm spin to be adjudged Man of the Match.
