The opposition lawmakers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday submitted a resolution in secretariat of Sindh Assembly calling upon the provincial government to take stern action against rampant corruption among its bureaucratic hierarchy and different departments.
The resolution was signed by four PTI lawmakers, Samar Ali Khan, Syed Hafeezuddin, Khurrum Sherzaman and Dr Seema Zia.
The legislators called upon the govt to place the names of its corrupt officials on the Exit Control List (ECL) and to bring them into the net of accountability to face justice.
Talking to media on the occasion, PTI’s parliamentary leader in provincial assembly, Samar Ali Khan, said instances of corruption in Sindh were on its peak and several reports in this regard had been making rounds, compelling legislators of his party to submit a resolution in the assembly. He said the upcoming session of the Sindh Assembly should discuss the issue of corruption among bureaucratic circles of Sindh government.
According to Khan, the PTI in its resolution had demanded that the Federal Investigation Agency and National Accountability Bureau should conduct inquiries and take action on indiscriminate basis against corrupt officials in Sindh government and also against their patrons.
Another PTI lawmaker Syed Hafeezuddin said the names of corrupt officials, including that of K-Electric, should be placed on the ECL so they don’t any opportunity to escape accountability.
Khurrum Sherzaman said the Sindh government should be held squarely responsible for the numerous deaths in Thar desert and then in Karachi.
