ISLAMABAD: The Executive Board of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday authorised inquiry against ex-provincial minister of Balochistan for industries and commerce for alleged accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income worth Rs8 billion.
The NAB Executive Board Meeting (EBM) held with Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry in chair.The NAB Executive Board decided to file corruption reference against Imdad Ullah, Director of Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar and Others.
In this case, the accused persons in connivance with one another by misusing their authority caused a loss of Rs12, 499,876 to the exchequer.The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) decided to authorise three inquiries as first inquiry was authorised against Abdul Ghafoor Lehri, ex-provincial minister for industries and commerce, Balochistan.
Second inquiry was authorised against officers and officials of Sindh police and in this case, the accused persons alleged of embezzlement of funds for procurement of amour vehicles, misappropriation in POL funds and procurement of CCTV Cameras etc.
Third inquiry was authorised against officers/officials of Workers Welfare Board and Revenue Department, Gadap Town, Karachi and in this case, the accused persons were alleged ofpurchase of 66-25 acres of land in Deh Allah Phiai. The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) also decided to authorise two investigations against Sahibzada Riaz Noor, KP ex-chief secretary, Sohail Bin Qayyum, ex-PD, C&W Department and Zahid Arif, KP ex-secretary C&W.
In this case, the accused persons were alleged of misuse of authority and illegal re-instatement of accused Zahid Arif.Second investigation was authorised against Ahsan Ullah Khan, ex-SMBR, Officers/Officials of Revenue Deptt KP and others. In this case, the accused persons were alleged of misuse of authority, illegal appointment and promotion of revenue staff.The EBM also assigned an inquiry into the Privatisation of MCB Bank to NAB Rawalpindi under NAO.
