KARACHI: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will conduct shakedown testing and inspections of all airlines including the national carrier Pakistan International Airline (PIA), it said on Wednesday.
“Manzar Jamal Principal Director Regulatory CAA will soon start shakedown inspection of all private airlines and PIA very soon,” CAA spokesperson said.
“Air Marshal(R) Muhammad Yousaf DG CAA has directed that there should be no compromise on safety regulations.
Shakedown inspection of all airlines should be done in order to prevent any incidents.”
It is pertinent to mention that aircraft shakedowns involve ground and air born flights tests to detect flaws those could cause failure of various components. The aircraft shakedown process is carried out by trained inspectors and test pilots.
A day earlier the CAA suspended private Air Indus operations on safety concern. The CAA said Air Indus violated safety regulation.
“Despite repeated safety directives and warnings, the operator did not make any improvement and ignored the safety instructions.
The unsafe condition and persistent violation of the safety regulations is endangering the safety of aircraft and life of passengers,” the CAA said “In order to ensure safety of passengers, Civil Aviation Authority has suspended air Indus operations from 1st July, 2015, till they improve and achieve their required standard of safety.”
