CHITRAL: The Board of Governors (BoG) of The Langlands School and College, Chitral has extended unconditional support to the principal of the institution.
Through a statement, the members of the Board of Governors noted that the principal, Carey Schofield, took over from Geoffrey Langlands in March 2013 when he retired after two decades of dedicated service to the school.
They said that due to his old age the last years of Langlands as principal were not the best years of his illustrious career. They added that many people took advantage of this situation and the new principal had to undertake the Herculean task of putting the institution back on track.
The said she had the support of the governing body in this endeavor and enjoyed wide credibility in Chitral among parents, students and the wider public. “Some teachers who have lost their jobs as a result of the new principal’s decisions have been running a campaign to malign her,” the statement added.
“Unscrupulous elements have manipulated him (Langlands) to use his reputation and to undermine the school. The governing body would like to place on record the courage and integrity that Schofield has shown in tackling the problems of the school from the front,” the statement quoted the Board of Governors members as saying.
An individual of lesser integrity would have compromised and reached solutions, which would have come at a terrible cost to the school, they pointed out.Meanwhile, the Board of Governors chairman Raza Kuli Khan Khattak in a separate statement said he and other members fully supported Ms Carey Schofield, the present principal of the Langlands School and College, Chitral. “Ever since taking over from the legendary Major Langlands in 2013, the principal has shown qualities of leadership by replacing inefficient teachers with better qualified teachers.
