PUNJAB Governor Malik Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana has said that the national leadership and the people of Pakistan are standing side by side with our army in the war against terrorism and our armed forces as well as government are fully determined to eliminate the menace of extremism from Pakistan.
This was stated by the Punjab Governor while he was addressing at a reception in the honour of 31-member delegation of Royal College for Defence Studies, UK at Governor House, Lahore.
He said that Pakistan Army had gained significant advancements in the operation Zarb-e-Azb and the whole world recognised the sacrifices of our people.
The governor said that the war against terrorism had badly affected our economy and caused a heavy economic loss worth more than 100 billion dollars along with the sacrifices of 50,000 civil and military personals. He said that international community should come forward to help Pakistan in the war, by providing their full economic support. He said that Pakistan was a responsible atomic power, which intended to have ideal relations with our neighbours, including India.
He said that Pakistan was currently facing energy crises but the current team of experts, under the auspicious leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, had taken concrete measures to overcome the energy crises. He said that due to the prudent economic policies of the PML-N government, now Pakistan had become an ideal place for the foreign investors and many foreign companies were investing here.
The governor said that England was a major trade and investing partner of Pakistan, and there was dire need to find ways and means to further expand foreign direct investment in infrastructure development, energy sector, agriculture, agro-based industry and oil & gas exploration in Pakistan. He said that the UK investors would be given full support and cooperation to invest here.
The head of the delegation said that presently 1.5 million Pakistanis, settled in UK, were playing their pivotal role in the economic building of England. He said that UK was eager to boost its bilateral relations with Pakistan and was ready to provide full support to the government of Pakistan in resolving the basic issues.
