MULTAN: The All Pakistan Clerks Association observed a pen-down strike and locked offices against meagre raise in salaries in the federal and provincial budgets. The clerks also staged a demonstration and demanded handsome raise in salaries. They were chanting slogans against the government. They were also carrying placards and banners.
The Apca organised a protest meeting at the Directorate of Education. Addressing the meeting, Apca education wing president Muhammad Nadeem Khan said that Sharif brothers wanted to financially crush the public servants. He said that if the government did not revise pay scales of government employees, enhance their salaries and regularise daily-wagers and contract employees, the Apca would launch a countrywide protest. Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Apca secretary general Chaudhry Khalid Javed Sanghera rejected the budget and meagre raise in salaries. He said that the Apca would continue strike till the acceptance of their demands. He warned of launching a march to Islamabad if their demands were not accepted.
