800 trees planted by students of IVSL
Rawalpindi: Students of Grades 2, 3, 4 and 5 of Indus Valley School of Learning, Rawalpindi, travelled to Shahpur Dam, along with some teachers, and planted 800 trees there, along the fringes of the dam.
The plantation this year was done in collaboration with the National Logistics Cell, represented by Col. Nawab Dogar. Also present were Faisal Anwar, Consultant, Hassaan, and Raheel Adnan. It was rather a hot day, but the kids braved the sun and participated wholeheartedly in planting the saplings.
The students were also given a presentation, by a horticulturist, Jahanzeb on the medicinal benefits of the trees planted by them. Tree plantation is an annual activity conducted by Indus Valley School of Learning, twice a year, as part of their extensive civics curriculum, that inculcates, in students, a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Students are taught how to be good citizens of the world, and to realize that they are the ones who have to take care of the earth. Over the past few years students at IVSL have planted over 4000 trees in an effort to save the environment.
